Our Building Has Come a Long Way – 90 Everett Street, Bryson City, NC

Our building was built in the 1940’s. It has a lot of history, some of it we haven’t even dug up yet. According to the owner, whose father built the building, it was originally a men’s haberdashery (general store). We understand from the locals we have talked to that at some point it was a pool hall, a barbershop and the neighboring hardware store even used some of the space upstairs and in the basement for storage. The last business here was a silk screen graphics shop. Here is what we started with.

A little over a year ago we started demolition. It was clear when we bought the building that it had good bones (meaning the infrastructure was solid). It was an old brick and mortar building with very little deterioration. We were thrilled we would be able to keep a lot of the original downtown historical building’s charm intact. Then we started rebuilding… I will spare you the long and boring details of construction and just flash forward to what the building looks like today:

The building is brimming with character and now sports a rooftop deck for our customers to enjoy one of our beers while taking in the beautiful scenery of the surrounding mountains and Tuckasegee River from the center of our amazing small town community. Our brewery is unique in that it will have two levels, the main floor has a taproom with views of the brewhouse and the upstairs has a taproom with access to our rooftop deck.

The inside is not complete, we are in the midst of plumbing and wiring with equipment soon to be delivered. Stay tuned...
